The Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Poland opposed the proclamation of the year 2027 as the year of the Ukrainian rebel army and Roman Shukhevich.
The UPA has once again been glorified by Ukrainians. The Lviv Regional Council wants 2027 to be dedicated to the UPA and the criminal Roman Shukhevych. The decision was made while the search for and exhumation of victims is still ongoing, and Poland awaits real action by Ukraine to address the tragic crime.
In his communication with journalists, the head of the Polish Government stated that this was "a unreasonable decision." He said that such steps were always "very annoying", "in Poland we do not understand this kind of action, especially since they are primarily harmful to the interests of Ukraine".
To say I completely fail to understand such suicidal tactics is an understatement, said Prime Minister Donald Tusk, commenting on the Lviv Regional Council's decision to declare 2027 the year of the UPA and its commander, Roman Shukhevych. "This isn't a problem for us, it's a problem for Ukraine," added the Polish prime minister.
