"Penguin" Showrunner Sets "Poison Ivy" Series
On Wednesday, The Penguin showrunner Lauren LeFranc entered talks to produce a new Poison Ivy-focused series for Warner Bros. and DC Comics, though HBO has not yet ordered the project to series.
Unlike The Penguin, sources indicate this series will be set within DC Studios' DCU rather than the separate universe led by Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson, distinguishing it from The Batman franchise.
LeFranc earned critical acclaim for her 8-episode crime drama The Penguin, which followed the 2022 Batman film; Cristin Milioti won Outstanding Lead Actress recognition for the series.
No writers are currently attached to the expansion, and no lead actor has been cast as Pamela Isley, as HBO has not formally greenlit the project.
Created by Carmine Infantino and Robert Kanigher, Poison Ivy first appeared in DC Comics' Batman #181 in 1966; the character has lacked a live-action lead since 2022.
