The number of guests at Siófok's paid beaches has dropped significantly, and the lost ticket revenue could reach 70 million forints. The other beach of the city-owned Balaton-Parti Kft., Galerius Fürdő, cannot offset the weaker summer season either: its loss could exceed 100 million forints by the end of the year, Portfolio reports.
Restaurant and accommodation owners sounded the alarm about the Balaton season in mid-summer, many reporting lower than expected income. At the same time, there were good quality restaurants that were able to maintain their position in the market. The mayor of Siófok, Dr. Róbert Lengyel, reports that the income from local tourism and related services has decreased by at least ten percent, which puts the city government in a difficult position.
