Italian skier Federica Brignone will miss the World Cup opener, which begins with the giant slalom in Sölden on Oct. 24 after undergoing surgery on her left leg in August. The Olympic champion told the AP that she has barely skied since February and has no idea when she will be back on the slopes. The Italian team will also miss Sofia Goggia, who is recovering from two viruses, at the start of the season.
