Ignacio Rivera Muñoz assumed as Seremi of Public Security in the Region of Antofagasta in an interim manner from 1 April, marking the entry into operation of the new ministry dedicated exclusively to the fight against crime and organized crime. Rivera, who currently serves as regional coordinator for crime prevention, will hold this post until the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, makes the final appointment.

This Tuesday, April 1st, marks the official launch of the Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Public Security in the Tarapacá region, fulfilling the promise made by President Gabriel Boric. The current regional coordinator for crime prevention, Ignacio Rivera Muñoz, was appointed as a public security seremi in the Antofagasta Region as an interim since April 1, when the new ministry begins to function. The engineer will remain in office until President Gabriel Boric Font makes the final appointment, as reported by the Ministry of Security through a public statement.

The Ministry of Public Security began operating in Chile, led by Luis Cordero. The new portfolio will coordinate Carabineros and the PDI, in addition to implementing strategies against organized crime. Governors criticized the Executive for not including them in the appointment of the Seremis.
