THE MOJ: For Canucks Forward Brendan Gallagher, Coming Home Is Bittersweet
Brendan Gallagher has one assist in 12 games and was a healthy scratch as the Canucks adjust their lineup around the veteran forward.
On Tuesday, the Vancouver Canucks benched veteran forward Brendan Gallagher as a healthy scratch during their 6-5 overtime win in Anaheim, marking a difficult turn in his homecoming after 14 seasons with the Montreal Canadiens.
Struggles have defined the 34-year-old's season, with Gallagher recording just one assist in 12 games; the team, navigating a difficult start, removed the former Vancouver Giant from the lineup.
At home with his wife, Emily, and daughters Everly Mona Della and Ella, Gallagher finds perspective; his children couldnt care less about his statistics or lineup status.
His return to Vancouver follows the March 8, 2025, death of his mother, Della, who battled brain cancer for nearly four years; he honored her by naming his first daughter Everly Mona Della.
Gallagher intends to overcome this adversity using the work ethic that helped a fifth-round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft carve out an NHL career, remaining positive and working hard to regain form.
