UK tells public to keep three days' emergency supplies at home
The guidance lists water, food, cash and a radio as officials seek to help households handle outages, storms and cyberattacks for 72 hours.
The Government launched the Ready campaign, urging households to stock three days of essential supplies to manage potential emergencies like power cuts, severe weather, or cyber attacks.
Ensuring households can manage for 72 hours if everyday services are disrupted, The Government stresses anyone should remain "alert but not alarmed" without needing to panic buy.
Recommended kits include nine litres of water per person and non-perishable food, alongside practical tools like LED torches, emergency radios, portable power banks, and first aid supplies.
The Priority Services Register helps utility companies identify households needing additional support during interruptions, while The Government suggests checking supplies every six months to replace expired items.
Building a kit gradually allows households to maintain independence during service interruptions, as a little planning makes managing potential outages significantly easier to endure.
