A government decree has been issued that, citing ethical and animal welfare reasons, will ban the use of wild animals in circuses from January 1, 2027. The regulation also prohibits companies from purchasing, keeping and breeding a number of mammals, birds and reptiles, so only domesticated animal species are exempt from the ban.

The legislation was created citing ethical and animal protection reasons and will come into effect from 2027.
