Outside the Svalan sheltered housing complex in Kalix, things are being grown like never before. In the autumn sun, some of the tenants are harvesting both lettuce and potatoes in the pallet collars next to the apartment building. “Now we are picking up the second batch of new potatoes,” says 80-year-old Raili Strömbäck.
