GMP Says Edenfield Gang Sent 1,724 Drug Parcels Via Royal Mail
Police said the gang used fake return addresses and encrypted devices to disguise an industrial-scale operation worth more than £2.2 million.
Greater Manchester Police dismantled an industrial-scale drug distribution hub in Edenfield, Bury, where operators dispatched 1,724 parcels via Royal Mail between February and April 2025.
Iain Potter, Jack Wright, and Ross Fathi managed the operation, employing encrypted devices and fictitious return addresses to evade police detection.
Police discovered the enterprise after arresting Potter and Wright in Ramsbottom on April 24, 2025, with a suitcase containing 5kg of cannabis skunk.
Potter and Wright received 11 years and four months in prison, while Fathi was sentenced to six years for conspiracy to supply Class A and B drugs.
GMP launched the 'Buy Now, Pay Later' campaign to warn against ordering cannabis online, noting such imports carry severe consequences for employment and travel.
