The village of Kannonsaha in Kannonkoski once lived a completely different life than you might imagine today. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, a community grew up around the sawmill located on the edge of the rapids, which at its peak had hundreds of residents, several shops, mills, blacksmith shops, a school, the activities of rafting companies, and later even its own railway stop.
