The government announced measures to combat high fuel prices on Thursday after an extraordinary meeting. Starting next Wednesday, it will cap fuel distributors' margins and reduce excise duty on diesel. This was announced by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš.
Andrej Babiš's government was initially reluctant to intervene in the gasoline and diesel markets, whose prices have risen significantly due to the war in the Middle East. Prague - The government will discuss measures against high fuel prices in the Czech Republic at an extraordinary meeting today. One of them should be the regulation of fuel distributors' margins, which according to the cabinet are inadequate in some cases. Another point could be a reduction in the excise tax on fuels; the Ministry of Finance should have worked out several variants of the tax adjustment in recent days.
