Traffic on the Giurgiu-Russian Friendship Bridge, stopped for two days in March, due to repairs on the Bulgarian side

Traffic on the Giurgiu-Ruse Friendship Bridge will be closed for 12 hours on two days in March, as part of reconstruction work on the Bulgarian side. Authorities say the restrictions are necessary to allow the concrete to harden and stabilize the bridge's structures. Currently, traffic is moving alternately on a single lane, and the repair work, which began in July 2024, is expected to take about two years.
