The Future of Alpina Looks Bright If This Drool-Worthy Coupe Concept Is Any Indication
The concept previews a new BMW Alpina design language and a 7 Series derivative, with sales still targeted at about 2,500 vehicles a year.
At the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, BMW unveiled the Vision BMW Alpina concept, a two-door coupe previewing the brand's future direction and a likely next-generation 8 Series.
After 60 years of independence, Alpina has moved under BMW's full control to fill the market gap between BMW and Rolls-Royce, aiming to make future models more distinctive and desirable.
The concept measures 204.7 inches long and features a V8 engine, with 22-inch front and 23-inch rear wheels using the thin 20-spoke design Alpina has employed since 1971.
Inside, the dashboard mirrors the facelifted 7 Series with crystal controls, while the rear console reveals two crystal glasses engraved with 20 deco lines at a six-degree angle.
