Cemil Önal allegedly managed the financial affairs of the Cypriot businessman Halil Falyali, who was killed in 2022. A few weeks before his death, Mr Önal had claimed that he was afraid of being murdered because he had evidence of the corruption of several men close to the government in Turkey.
