The passage of a cold front across the Czech Republic on Sunday afternoon was accompanied by thunderstorms in some places. In the Jičín region, people observed a wind vortex that touched the ground, making it a weak tornado. The phenomenon avoided populated areas and no property damage has been recorded so far.
A weak tornado occurred during a rain shower east of Jičín, near the villages of Studeňany, Úlibice, and Radim on Sunday afternoon. It was the first documented tornado in the Czech Republic this year.

Storm chasers have released images that appear to show the first tornado of the year. The photos were taken on Sunday afternoon in connection with a storm that formed north of Nymburk in Central Bohemia.
