After S-400, India Eyes Russia’s S-500 and Su-57 in a Major Defence Push

S-500 missile defence system and Su-57 stealth fighter are emerging as key defence topics in Prime Minister Narendra Modis talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the SCO Summit. The discussions come after Indias S-400 system, used during Operation Sindoor, reportedly performed effectively against aerial threats, adding context to New Delhis interest in newer Russian defence capabilities.

During Operation Sindoor, Pakistan was practically single-handedly awakened by the 'Sudarshan' or 'S-400'. Due to this fear, the enemy's warplanes did not dare to enter within 200 kilometers of the Indian border. Therefore, the jury is out on the S-400 in air defense. Now, Russia wants to hand over its improved version, the S-500, to India.
