Following the end of the government's Lower Fuel Prices program, the 23% VAT rate returned to gas stations. Drivers immediately felt the change: the average price of 95-octane petrol rose to PLN 7.63 per liter within a week, and of diesel to PLN 8.39. The government admits that, due to tight budgets, it is currently unable to continue the program.
