Police say enough evidence gathered to charge minister over diplomatic passports
Current energy and former foreign minister Eli Cohen is suspected of issuing diplomatic passports to powerful Likud members who could influence his position on the party's Knesset list, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's son
The investigation, which opened in January 2024 with the approval of the Attorney General, examined suspicions of breach of trust surrounding the issuance of diplomatic passports for irrelevant considerations. According to the police, testimonies were collected from dozens of people involved, numerous documents were seized, and an evidentiary foundation emerged for crimes allegedly committed by Cohen.
