In public, the outgoing mayor of Nice said he was convinced to be able to go back on Eric Ciotti, who beat him on Sunday night in the second round of the municipal elections. In private, no one was unaware that the game was very poorly boarded. Or even lost in advance.
Christian Estrosi lost the town hall of Nice to Eric Ciotti in 2026, marking the end of an era and a major political turning point for the city.
Eric Ciotti was elected this Sunday, March 24 with 48.54%, putting an end to 18 years of Christian Estrosi's reign (37.20%). On Monday, he walked through the streets of Nice and on the Proms, shaking hands with shovels, chaining the selfies.
