The Cure guitarist, keyboardist Perry Bamonte, dies
- December 26, 2025, Perry Bamonte, guitarist and keyboardist in The Cure, died at 65 after battling a short illness at home over Christmas, The Cure confirmed on Friday.
- Originally part of the road crew, Bamonte entered The Cure's world through his brother Daryl Bamonte, tour manager, and served as Robert Smith, The Cure frontman’s guitar technician and assistant.
- He performed on albums from Wish to Bloodflowers and played six-string bass and keyboards while performing more than 400 shows over 14 years.
- The Cure issued condolences and said their thoughts are with his family, noting Bamonte had been slated to perform at international dates through 2026.
- Officially back in 2022 for the Shows Of A Lost World tour, Bamonte played another 90 shows, including the Troxy launch performances tied to the Songs Of A Lost World release last week.
