The crossing into Cornwall before the Tamar Bridge was built

Summary by Ground News
Saltash Passage (aka Riverside) was the ancient route to Cornwall across a bridgeless stretch of the Tamar. For many years the ferry rights were tied to the Manor of Trematon, and Little Ash, until the early 19th century, was regarded as being part of Cornwall. Today, the river divides the two counties and since the construction of Tamar Road Bridge (1961) there is no longer a need for a ferry service here.
