The nuclear engineering company Blykalla has submitted a second application to build a new nuclear power plant, reports TT. The company wants to build up to eight lead-cooled reactors in Tierp municipality, adjacent to the Untra and Söderfors hydroelectric power plants.
The nuclear engineering company Blykalla is today submitting its second application to the government to build a new nuclear power plant. The application concerns up to eight lead-cooled reactors in the municipality of Tierp.
The company Blykalla has applied to build eight smaller nuclear reactors north of Tierp. The plant is expected to have a total output of 440 megawatts and be ready in the first half of the 2030s if it passes all the tests.

Blykalla is applying for a permit for up to eight small-scale lead-cooled reactors at Untra in Tierp municipality. As recently as May, the Swedish nuclear technology company also applied to build new nuclear power in nearby Gävle municipality.
