A complete shutdown of the Channel's activities, Scène nationale de Calais, starting on 1 July and for a period of at least six months, was announced to the staff. The communities that finance Le Channel explain in a joint press release their desire to "make a Channel live differently in accordance with the tasks and specifications of the Scène nationale label". On Friday, 22 May, the announcement was brutal for the Channel staff.
