Real Wages Grow by 3.5 Percent

In March 2025, the gross average salary was 8.5 percent higher than the same period of the previous year.

Full-time employees’ average gross earnings were HUF 714,400 and average net earnings reached HUF 490,400 in March 2025. Average gross earnings grew by 8.5%, net earnings increased by 8.4% and real earnings were 3.5% higher than a year earlier. Median gross earnings were HUF 550,000, and median net earnings were HUF 381,700, surpassing the value for the same period of the previous year by 8.6% and 8.3%, respectively.

Salaries in Hungary increased significantly in March, with the average net salary approaching half a million forints. The median value also rose to close to 400,000 forints.

The Ministry of National Economy issued a statement saying that the average salary increased by 56 thousand forints in March. It states that despite the continuous pressure from Brussels, the government is not spending Hungary's resources on Ukraine, but on supporting the Hungarian population, especially families with children.
