According to the Ministry of Finance, the correction was necessary because the budget adopted by the previous government had little to do with reality.
The National Assembly has adopted a comprehensive correction of the 2026 budget. The members of parliament voted 134 yes, 48 no and one abstention on the bill, which was submitted to the legislature by András Kármán, the Minister of Finance of the Tisza government. This year's budget was adopted by the parliament in the previous government term, in 2025.
The preamble to the 2026 budget proposal has also changed: the budget, which the previous Fidesz-KDNP government called "anti-war", was renamed "The Budget of Reality". The amendment also changed the figures for the total expenditure and revenue, the deficit, the deficit target as a percentage of GDP, and economic growth.
The GDP-proportionate deficit target will increase from 3.7 percent to 7.5 percent, and the planned economic growth will decrease from 4.1 percent to 2 percent. The post Amendments to the 2026 budget adopted first appeared on 24.hu.
