Texas comptroller distributes $1.3B in monthly sales tax revenue to local governments

Texas Comptroller Don Huffines announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.3 billion in local sales tax allocations for September 2026, 7.6% more than in September 2025.

Sales tax receipts dip in September

After posting an 11% gain in sales tax revenue last month, the city of Lampasas saw receipts fall 9% this period. September allocations are based on local sales made in July by businesses that report their tax monthly to the state comptroller’s office.
