- The EEOC's lawsuit, which follows failed settlement talks, seeks compensatory and punitive damages for Black workers, as well as an order for Tesla to revamp its discrimination and retaliation policies. Tesla also faces similar claims from the California Civil Rights Department.
- This lawsuit adds to the growing number of race discrimination cases against Tesla, including a class action by workers at the Fremont plant and a lawsuit by a California civil rights agency.

"Every employee deserves to have their civil rights respected, and no worker should endure the kind of shameful racial bigotry our investigation revealed," said EEOC Chair Charlotte A. Burrows. The lawsuit makes clear that no company is above the law, and the EEOC will vigorously enforce federal civil rights protections to help ensure American workplaces are free from unlawful harassment and retaliation, Burrows added.
