Tesco to Axe 380 Jobs as Rocky Start to 2026 for High Street Continues
Tesco will remove 380 roles while installing bakeries in 100 Express stores and investing in replenishment and clothing, with 1,500 vacancies available to support affected staff.
Tesco has confirmed plans to cut 380 jobs across its UK supermarkets.
The job cuts are part of Tesco's plan to simplify operations and remain competitive, including changes to replenishment schedules, removing a centralized bakery operation, and investing in clothing departments.
Other major retailers like River Island, Primark, and Poundland have also closed stores in 2026, amid a rocky start for the high street.
