Terrified Dog Rescued From Trash Compactor
DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA, JUL 9 – Daytona Beach police are investigating after a dog was trapped for over 12 hours in a trash compactor and rescued with veterinary care and foster support provided.
- On Sunday, a black mixed-breed dog named Daytona was discovered frightened and trapped inside a trash compactor located at an apartment complex in Daytona Beach.
- Brandon Arroyo, a FWC officer and resident, and his wife Heather Jones responded after learning the dog was inside the trash unit, believing someone threw him in and he was trapped over 12 hours.
- Brandon gently guided Daytona out using a lead rope, and the couple took him home for a much-needed bath while police began investigating the incident without any suspects or security footage so far.
- Daytona is estimated to be 2 to 4 years old, is not microchipped, has hip issues, and is scheduled for an X-ray on Tuesday as Brandon and Heather raise money for his ongoing treatments.
- The Daytona Beach Police and the FWC officer are pursuing all leads seriously, and if no owner is found, the officer plans to provide Daytona with a permanent home.
