On Monday evening, around 140 people were transported from Ter Apel to the night shelter at the Hanze Plaza convention center in Groningen. Because the accommodation at the registration center in Ter Apel is full, asylum seekers have been spending the night in temporary locations since last week. This is to prevent them from having to sleep outside. On the night of Sunday to Monday, this involved 126 people.
The Red Cross fears that women and children in Ter Apel will soon also be left without a place to shelter if the government does not intervene immediately. In recent days, asylum seekers have been accommodated at other locations. The aid organization calls it ‘incomprehensible’ that sufficient sleeping places cannot be provided.

On Tuesday, maximums in Ter Apel are expected to climb to 32 degrees Celsius.
