The reason is problems with telecommunications connections at Norway's leading telecom operator Telenor.
Telecom group Telenor has confirmed that it is aware of the disruption. It says that hacking is not suspected.
All trains have been stopped as rescue services cannot be contacted.
According to the Norwegian Communications Authority, some of the serious problems at Norway's leading telecom operator Telenor have been fixed.
Extensive disruptions at Telenor have meant that some emergency calls are not reaching Norway. The state-owned railway company has therefore stopped train traffic throughout the country. – We have no disruptions in Sweden, says Boel Bengtsson, press contact at Telenor in Sweden.
