Teenager inspired by Southport killer Axel Rudakabana is sentenced
Jagger Strang received a 3-year, 9-month sentence after police found chemicals, gunpowder and bomb-making instructions at his home.
On Monday, Jagger Strang was sentenced to three years and nine months in custody at Leicester Crown Court after pleading guilty to seven offences, including threats to blow up Stafford College.
In September 2025, when Strang was 17 and a student at Stafford College, he told peers he had access to weapons and intended to blow up the site, marking a dramatic shift after moving from South Africa.
Police searches uncovered chemicals, homemade black powder, and thermite, while examination of his phone revealed 'deeply concerning material' including a manifesto, though prosecutors accepted Strang had 'no intention' of actually building a bomb.
Chief Prosecutor Frank Ferguson of the Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division noted Strang 'demonstrated a disturbing fixation with violence,' while Justice Mark Wall stressed the need for 'deterrents' in his sentencing.
Authorities confirmed the case was not prosecuted on the basis of terrorist motivation or ideological intent; Detective Inspector Dave Rowlands of Staffordshire Police praised the college community for their vigilance in reporting the threat.
