TEAMSTERS AT REPUBLIC SERVICES HUNTINGTON BEACH TRANSFER STATION RATIFY STRONG FIRST CONTRACT
The agreement includes substantial wage increases, pension contributions and stronger job protections for workers, Teamsters Local 396 said.
On Monday, workers at the Republic Services Huntington Beach Transfer Station ratified a monumental first contract with Teamsters Local 396, marking a major victory following their organizing win last year.
Sanitation workers in Southern California organized for respect, fairness, and a voice on the job, reflecting growing momentum to win better wages, benefits, and protections.
Under the agreement, employees receive substantial wage increases and pension contributions, said Victor Mineros, Secretary-Treasurer, with strong language protecting workers from unfair treatment and strengthening seniority rights.
"This victory shows the power of solidarity," said Alex Moran, President of Local 396, while member Maria Silva Madrigal added, "We organized because we wanted a better future."
Growing numbers of employees are seeking the power and protection of a Teamster contract, as Teamsters Local 396 continues to expand across Southern California with thousands of workers in sanitation, delivery, and related industries.
