TD Bank COO departing after less than one year in the job in latest executive shakeup
TD gave no reason for the exit as it reshuffles senior leadership under CEO Raymond Chun after a more than US$3 billion U.S. regulatory fine.
On Thursday, TD Bank Group announced that chief operating officer Taylan Turan is leaving the Toronto-based lender after less than one year, though the bank did not specify a reason for his departure.
Turan joined the bank on September 29, 2025, to lead transformation and efficiency efforts, having previously held senior roles at HSBC Holdings PLC, Barclays PLC, and Citigroup Inc.
These changes represent the latest executive shakeup under CEO Raymond Chun, who assumed the top job after TD Bank Group was fined more than US$3 billion by U.S. regulators in 2024 for anti-money laundering failures.
Effective September 4, the bank appointed Renu Gupta as chief strategy and commercial officer, while Vlad Shpilsky leads Global Technology and Solutions and Paul Whitehead oversees Global Corporate Services.
Under CEO Raymond Chun, the bank aims to accelerate strategy and growth through AI-enabled applications and digital initiatives. Chun stated the firm has "significant momentum" to deliver differentiated client experiences.
