Ray Tavarez hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the fifth inning and pitched the final two innings, striking out four, to lead Edison to a 7-2 victory over J.P. Stevens in Edison. Edison (12-4) trailed 2-1 heading into the fifth inning before Tavarez’s home run gave the Eagles the lead for good. The Eagles added three more runs in the sixth inning to pull away.
