Afghans Fight Back Against Bangladesh
Tanzid Hasan made 83 and Shadman Islam 67 as Bangladesh recovered from an Afghan fightback and reached 317-8 on day one.
On Friday, Bangladesh reached 317-8 against Afghanistan on the opening day of their one-off Test at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Opener Tanzid Hasan and Shadman Islam built a solid 124-run partnership, exploiting the slow-paced pitch before Afghanistan's bowlers struck with five wickets for 101 runs.
Bangladesh slipped to 226-5 during the second session, losing three wickets for just four runs; Wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz steadied the innings with a 62-run partnership.
Afghanistan's bowling unit shared the honours, with Mohammad Saleem taking 3-70 while Ismat Alam and Yamin Ahmadzai each claimed two wickets to restrict Bangladesh's total.
This match marks Bangladesh's first-ever Test at a neutral venue, with play resuming Saturday at the Zayed Cricket Stadium as Afghanistan seeks to build on their late recovery.
