The government is continuing measures against the shadow fleet and will continue to summon foreign tankers to check insurance.

Last year, Norway introduced a stricter effort to gain better control over foreign-registered oil tankers in Norwegian waters. The measures are now being continued.

On 11 August last year, Norway introduced a temporary measure whereby foreign-registered oil tankers in the Norwegian economic zone are called upon to provide voluntary information about insurance. The practice was originally introduced for six months, but the government has now decided to continue the measure – without a time limit.
