Talking Parrot Helps Lancashire Police Bring Down Drug Gangs
BLACKPOOL, ENGLAND, AUG 7 – Fifteen gang members were sentenced to over 103 years after police used videos on mobile phones, including footage of a parrot repeating drug slang, to dismantle the operation.
- A parrot named Mango was taught key drug dealing phrases and found during a police raid on homes in Blackpool, where officers also seized large amounts of heroin and cocaine.
- Ringleader Adam Garnett, 35, ran the Blackpool-based drug gang from inside prison in 2023 to 2024, and videos on phones showed the parrot talking and playing with drug money.
- A total of 15 gang members pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court to drug offences between February 2023 and July 2024, receiving sentences ranging from 5 to 19.5 years in prison.
