Taipei, July 5 (CNA) Health Minister Shih Chung-liang (石崇良) said Sunday that the decision to order a precautionary recall of processed foods containing at least 20 percent carcinogen-tainted cooking oil was based on food safety guidelines established in 2017.
The soybean salad oil supplied by the three major domestic edible oil manufacturers, Taishan, Fu Shou, and Fu Mao, and its upstream supplier, Chung Lien Oils, contained excessive levels of the carcinogen benzopyrene. The Kaohsiung City Government's Food Safety Task Force continued to inspect restaurants and food courts in major hotels, department stores, food courts, markets, and night markets over the weekend, but has not yet found any problema…
