Syrians’ asylum requests in Europe drop to decade low

There are fewer and fewer applicants for protection on the old continent, and their origin and destination countries are also changing.

After the fall of the former leader Assad, the number of asylum applications from Syrians in the EU has fallen significantly. The European Asylum Authority even speaks of a "substantial change". Most of the applications came from people from Venezuela and Afghanistan in February.
