Despite its neutrality, the country could have transferred old surface-to-air missiles to their original manufacturer, the United Kingdom, but it has chosen to destroy them instead – to the fury of its European allies.

Switzerland is currently scrapping 60 short-range Rapier air defence systems, Swiss armament agency Armasuisse reported. One in four Rapiers has already been destroyed, as are probably all rockets. Meanwhile, these weapons could be waived for Britain's priceless and then passed on. And this without violating the principles of neutrality of the Alpine state.
