Swimming not advised at 2 N.S. beaches due to high bacteria levels

Rainbow Haven Beach and Lawrencetown Beach are under swimming advisories for this weekend due to a high bacteria count found through routine testing. Lifeguards will be on site to educate people about the dangers of swimming in unsafe water.

A community volunteer told the Scituate Town Council that her July sampling showed Pawtuxet River bacteria levels two to ten times the state swimming standard, and said she was baffled the Hope Pond beach had not been closed.
