Swimming legend Ryan Lochte named to Missouri State coaching staff
The six-time Olympic gold medalist will earn an estimated $30,000 and could receive bonuses tied to conference and NCAA results.
Six-Time Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte has joined Missouri State's swimming staff as an assistant to head coach Dave Collins, pending formal board approval in June.
Lochte agreed to a 10-month contract beginning in August through June 2027, earning an estimated $30,000, according to Front Office Sports, with eligibility for $500 bonuses per NCAA Championship qualifier.
Head coach Collins said, "We are very excited to welcome Ryan to the coaching staff," while Lochte expressed commitment to "pour that experience back into student-athletes."
Despite winning 12 Olympic medals, the 41-year-old previously faced a 10-month suspension from USA Swimming and a 14-month doping ban by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
Amid personal challenges, the former Olympian is navigating a divorce battle involving three children per September 2025 court filings while transitioning to the Springfield-based university.
