Suvendu Aide Murder: No Arrest yet, Probe Hinges on Survivor’s Testimony
Chandranath Rath, aide to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, was shot dead near his home in Madhyamgram in a premeditated attack involving bike-borne assailants who blocked his SUV with a silver Nissan Micra on May 6.
Investigators tracked a UPI payment made at the Bally toll plaza by the suspects' vehicle and used CCTV footage to identify their movements and potential escape routes.
Police believe at least eight individuals were involved in the attack, including local and possibly external shooters from Uttar Pradesh or Bihar; three suspects have been detained for questioning.
Authorities have increased Suvendu Adhikari's security through coordination between central forces and state police following the murder of his close aide.
