Susan Boyle's Life Story to Be Told in New Documentary
The 45-minute film features archive footage, personal photographs and interviews as it traces Boyle’s rise from Blackburn to global fame.
On December 31, BBC One Scotland will air 'There's Only One Susan Boyle,' a 45-minute documentary exploring the life of the Blackburn-born singer, also available on BBC iPlayer.
Boyle rose to international fame in 2009 following her 'Britain's Got Talent' audition of 'I Dreamed a Dream,' a performance that shocked judges and has since been viewed more than 264 million times.
Produced by Tern, the special aims to 'tell the story of the woman behind the voice,' per a press release, and features interviews with the singer, friends, and collaborators.
Heather Kane-Darling, commissioning editor at BBC Scotland, described the film as a 'warm, honest and entertaining portrait of a truly unique Scottish talent,' while Boyle stated she is 'delighted to be sharing my story.'
Now 16 years after her television debut, the documentary reflects on Boyle's journey from obscurity to national treasure, as she hopes the program 'reminds viewers to stay true to themselves and follow their dreams.
