In the middle and north of Limburg hailstones as big as walnuts fell from the sky. A few cars were dented. There is also a lot of rain. Code yellow is now in effect not only in Limburg, but also in the east of North Brabant.
The summer carnival festival Jeck en de City in Hückelhoven was cancelled due to hail and thunderstorms. There were slight injuries caused by hail grains up to two centimetres in size.
In Limburg, hailstones as big as marbles have fallen, says Buienradar. The KNMI previously warned of thunderstorms and possible flooding in the south of the province.
It promises to be a sultry Saturday with temperatures of up to 27 degrees inland. In the afternoon and evening, the chance of thunderstorms increases. Especially south of Sambre and Meuse, a lot of precipitation can fall in a short time with possible gusts of wind and hail. The KMI has therefore announced code yellow in Flemish Brabant, Limburg, Brussels and Wallonia.
