Suicide Attack Foiled on Army Check Post in South Waziristan; Civilian Martyred, 15 Injured
Security forces intercepted an explosives-laden vehicle before it reached the target, killing the attacker and injuring 15 people, officials said.
On Monday, Pakistan Army personnel foiled a suicide attack near Azam Warsak Bazaar in South Waziristan by neutralizing an explosives-laden vehicle at a distance from the military post.
This incident follows a significant surge in violence across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, where the Annual Security Report 2025 from CRSS documented that "fatalities rose from 1,620 in 2024 to 2,331 in 2025."
Seven individuals were injured in the explosion, which damaged a nearby religious seminary and shops, according to Medical Superintendent Dr. Jan Mohammad of the District Headquarters Hospital in Wana.
Security personnel immediately cordoned off the Azam Warsak area and launched a comprehensive search operation to clear potential threats following the blast.
Pakistan has struggled with increased cross-border terrorism since 2021, prompting the state to launch Operation Ghazab lil-Haq in February this year as the Afghan Taliban regime refuses to act against militant groups operating from its soil.
