Subway plans to open 70 new UK stores inside Asda supermarkets
The deal would lift Subway’s Asda presence by more than 50% as the chain pursues a 10,000-store goal across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Subway plans to open up to 70 more restaurants in Asda supermarkets over the next four years, increasing its footprint within the retailer by more than 50 per cent.
This initiative follows 18 months of significant international growth, as the Asda partnership supports a broader strategy to double Subway's footprint across Europe, the Middle East and Africa to 10,000 locations by 2031.
From January 1, 2027, new and refurbished locations will utilize the Blueprint design and operating model, featuring expanded breakfast and coffee selections plus an evening offering called Subway After Dark.
EMEA President Tracy Gehlan stated, "We're building on a strong foundation across EMEA, with significant opportunities to grow in both existing and new markets," amid six Master Franchise agreements across 14 countries.
The 2031 growth target encompasses regions including India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, reflecting the company's confidence in long-term potential across its diverse global development partners.
