- On Wednesday, authorities arrested substitute teacher Lytonja Barfield after she allegedly triggered false active shooter alerts at five Caddo Parish schools. Caddo Parish Sheriff Henry Whitehorn announced the booking on five counts of menacing.
- After receiving emergency alerts from several campuses, the Caddo Parish School Board contacted the Caddo Parish Sheriff. Don Gibbs, the school board's director of security, identified Barfield as the source who used the emergency management system.
- Security measures were implemented, including placing campuses on lockdown, after officials determined the alerts were false. Investigators later located and questioned Barfield before transporting her to the Caddo Correctional Center.
- The Caddo Parish School Board stated it is "cooperating fully" with the investigation. Officials confirmed Barfield is no longer employed and was not assigned to work at any district site during the incident.
- According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff, false reports disrupt schools, trigger emergency responses, and cause fear among students and staff. Police nationwide have issued warnings regarding the "SENIOR ASSASSIN" game, citing potential "DANGEROUS MISUNDERSTANDINGS" during similar incidents.
